ALL RIGHT SO. Here is my entry for the newest :iconserialstories: contest, a follow-up to The Elegant Cid in 'Breakin' Space-Time'. This one is a little different sort of story--less of an action-packed adventure and more of a conversation. It's a little more mellow and centers around different characters, too, but I liked Maya too much to give her only one story.

If you need a recap: our hero, the Elegant Cid, inadvertantly traveled through time and met his predecessor, the Resolute Dimitrius Cid, in pre-unified Scalar. They busted into a breakdancing club that Dimitrius had pegged as a torture chamber for humans, and Our Man Cid utterly failed to get his rocks off thanks to space-time intervening. This story takes place immediately after both timelines in that story--the first part takes place the day after, and the second part takes place just a few minutes after Cid returns to his own time.

The 80's sequence is a little bit different in that it's told from the giantess's perspective--we get her observations and her reactions to what's going on. There's an in-story reason for that, but the writing reason is just that I thought it might be fun. How does a giant woman like Maya view a "normal"-sized human being? What's it like when "normal" is inverted--when we see the human as tiny rather than the surroundings as gigantic? This isn't anything novel anywhere except in a Cid story, but it seemed like an interesting enough twist that it was worth building a story around.

A lot of this is history, conversation, and a little bit more about Dimitrius. It's also the closest I've gotten yet to revealing how Alphons became the Cid. I'm not giving away everything yet, but as you might guess, it's... not exactly pleasant. It's going to take a few stories, but I'm definitely giving Alphons Cid a full origin story down the road that will describe his relationship with Dimitrius, the Order of the Cid, his mysterious mistress, and even Olga.

I'm talking too much. Read! Enjoy! If you do, leave feedback! If you don't, also leave feedback and tell me why I suck! Thanks for reading! :)

12-23-20: I'm moving this one to Scraps. Frankly, I find some of the stuff I was trying to do here well-intended but a little distasteful. I don't feel that it's my place to be incorporating things like the slave trade into the mythos of my stories. I like Maya as a character, but I don't need the rest of this.

A fun addition, I must say! I enjoyed reading a bit of the history in this world, and Dimitrius and Maya's interactions in the past.
